Title: Management of Stroke During COVID-19 Pandemic: The Challenges in Nepal
Authors: Phuyal, Subash; Lamsal, Ritesh; Shrestha, Gentle Sunder; Paudel, Raju
Abstract: Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected health care delivery globally. COVID-19 is associated with varied neurological manifestations including acute ischemic stroke. In densely populated South Asian nations like Nepal that have suboptimal baseline health care systems, we foresee unique challenges during this pandemic to ensure effective stroke management as well as the safety of health care workers involved in the management of stroke patients.

Abstract: Abstract
Liposarcoma is an uncommon group of tumors in the pediatric population. Of the various known subtypes, pleomorphic liposarcoma is the most infrequent in children. We present the case of a 7-year old child coming to the radiology department for evaluation of a right knee swelling. Plain radiograph and corresponding MRI images showed features of primary bone tumor possibly Ewing’s sarcoma in right distal femur. The child developed right shoulder pain and CT thorax abdomen was done which revealed retroperitoneal mass with hepatic and pulmonary metastases.Subsequent core needle biopsy from the femur confirmed metastatic liposarcoma with pleomorphic features, extremely rare in childhood. The very rare incidence of metastasis that too presenting as a common primary tumor the misdiagnosis of which could result in catastrophic fate. So it’s of prime importance that clinicians should be aware of this entity.

Abstract: Abstract
Diabetes Ketoacidosis in association with acute myocardial infarction is quite frequent but is also associated with higher morbidity and mortality. These two can trigger each other, different hypothesis have been proposed to explain this phenomenon but still it is difficult to know which one appears first. We report a referred case to our centre with acute Myocardial Infarction and diabetic ketoacidosis promptly initiated treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis along with primary PCI.

Authors: Atreya, Alok; Thapa, Jagat Bahadur; Menezes, Ritesh G; Nepal, Samata; Nepal, Binu
Abstract: Abstract
Although preventable, electrocutions have claimed many lives in Nepal. People of low socio-economic background from remote villages in Nepal who visit jungle to tend cattle, collect firewood and cattle fodder are vulnerable to electrocution when the foliage are in contact with the power lines. We present a case of a 11-year-old boy who was found suspended over three naked high-tension electric wires approximately 30 feet above the ground in rural Nepal. This article describes a case of fatal electrocution and attempts to explain a reasons for such mishaps in Nepal through consideration of topography and socioeconomic factors. This article further discusses the death scene investigation in such cases.
