    <title>Spiritual Possession and the Role of Traditional Healers in Nepal</title>
    <link>https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14356/1452</link>
    <description>Title: Spiritual Possession and the Role of Traditional Healers in Nepal
Authors: Acharya, Sandeep
Abstract: Abstract&#xD;
Spiritual possession is a relatively common phenomenon, and occurs in many cultures around the world. It is a frequent claim in Nepal that illness is caused by spiritual possession, and ill people often seek out traditional healers for treatment.&#xD;
Traditional healers are often not medically trained, and this could have an adverse effect on a person’s health as serious illnesses may not be managed appropriately. However, there is perhaps a role that traditional healers can play in the management of patients.&#xD;
Keywords: Culture; Nepal; spirit possession; traditional medicine.

    <title>Ovarian Lymphangioma with Mature Cystic Teratoma</title>
    <link>https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14356/1451</link>
    <description>Title: Ovarian Lymphangioma with Mature Cystic Teratoma
Authors: Vaidya, Karishma Malla; Shrestha, Bigya
Abstract: Abstract&#xD;
Lymphangiomas are slow-growing tumors that remain asymptomatic for a long time, with the tumor being identified incidentally during histopathological examination after excision. Mature cystic teratoma is benign tumor consisting of mature tissue derived from two or three germ layers. We have 47-year-old woman who underwent total abdominal hysterectomy for right adnexal mass. As her ultrasound report revealed a right adnexal mass with solid and cystic components. The histological analysis along with immunohistochemistry (D2-40) maker confirmed the diagnosis of lymphangioma of the ovary coexisting with mature cystic teratoma. There is paucity of reported case of co-existing these two tumors in same tissue.&#xD;

    <title>Gene-Xpert: Diagnosis of Pulmonary Tuberculosis in a Sputum Smear Negative Patient</title>
    <link>https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14356/1449</link>
    <description>Title: Gene-Xpert: Diagnosis of Pulmonary Tuberculosis in a Sputum Smear Negative Patient
Authors: Pandey, Oshna; Paudyal, Buddhi; Basnyat, Buddha
Abstract: Abstract&#xD;
This case report has tried to highlight the ease and benefit of Gene-Xpert testing in difficult to diagnose patient with sputum smear negative pulmonary tuberculosis. Early treatment of tuberculosis is usually delayed by lack of rapid and accurate diagnostic modalities, especially in resource-limited settings like ours. Gene-Xpert is a rapid test based on real time PCR assay and molecular technology for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is highly sensitive tool and enables simultaneous detection of rifampicin resistance within short period of time i,e. &lt;2hrs. It has distinct advantage of providing same-day diagnosis which could potentially limit loss to follow up during diagnostic evaluation of smear negative tuberculosis patients.&#xD;
Keywords: Gene-Xpert; pulmonary tuberculosis; sputum microscopy.
