Abstract: Ethical Guidelines for the Care and Use of Animals in Health Research in Nepal: Introduction: An Act of Parliament created the Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC) in 1991 with the specific purpose of “promoting scientific study and quality health research in Nepal”. NHRC shares and expresses a deep concern for the welfare and the humane treatment of animals in health research and educational instruction. It has long been established that animals play a significant role in advancing health science. Animal experimentation has provided knowledge on the understanding of human beings and has provided models for training and other scientific knowledge.
